A Rubicon, Rubicon-SL, or Rubi-T console can easily communicate with Sierra Automated Systems intercom stations and other Rubicon, SL and Rubi-T rooms using the main board op microphone, console cue speaker, and board op headphones. Intercom and IFB within the system is accomplished simply by mapping a microphone (talk) to a destination (speaker or listen) from a pushbutton or other control function.

The full featured intercom control panel can be used in locations that do not already provide microphone and speaker facilities.  For example, the microphone may be a board op or guest microphone already connected to the system and will serve as both broadcast and intercom microphone.  Locations such as TOC, screener or office positions can utilize on of the full featured intercom control panels that provides microphone and speaker capabilities. Similarly the speaker or listens will already be connected to the system such as Headphones, Cue and Monitor etc, or the full feature intercom controller can provide the speaker (listen) facility in locations such as TOC, screener or office positions.  For the most part, intercom is fully built into the 32KD or RIO DSP Engines with no added wiring or installation. Features such as Talk, Listen, Group Call, Page (all call), auto answer are just a few of the features available in the SAS digital DSP audio system.  The new ICM-32 provides more functionality such as remote mixing/workstation, programmable talk and listen keys and IP interconnect using DSL or better grade internet.
